2 Peter 1:5-8

Filed under: Please Note — campusalive @ 1:10 pm

Helloooooo peeps! It’s into the final two weeks of A-levels examination for us seniors and we just finished the toughest leg (Unit 4 for 3 straight days). Mind-boggling, brain-busting, and totally tiring. But God is good and his love endures forever. I was constantly reminded of His strength as I read His word and was encouraged by calls, smses and wishes from people. I just want to share a passage from the Word (spiritual food, yum!) for you to digest and apply to your life.

2 Peter 1:5-8

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

the Bread of Lives

Peter presents us with a list of character attributes we should develop in our lives. Before this verse he talked about God’s power being “everything we need” to live a godly life, and that God gives us “great and precious promises” that help us to escape “the world’s corruption”. You can refer to your Bibles for a more complete reading.

So in VIEW of His promises, knowing that our lives are to be “shining like stars” (Philippians 2:15), we can start relying on HIM to mold us. We are commanded to shine!

Character isn’t easily developed when we do it on our own strengths. We try to be nice. We try to be patient with that roommate who has habits that disgust us. We try to avoid watching the wrong stuff online. We try we try we try and we fail. Because we’re not drawing from and drawing near to the Lord. So look back at the verse. Make every effort. That effort draws from the promises of God and his power in our lives.

I like verse 8. By possessing these qualities, we’ll become effective and productive in the knowledge of Christ! You see, it’s possible to KNOW Christ and not bear fruit. Are our lives dry? Do we go from day to day in a routine. When you’re dry and empty, the way to go is Christ. The living well. And in the practical sense, when we’ve been filled with God’s love, when we’re motivated and inspired by what He’s done in our lives, things change. Change because we begin to see people differently, and that’s when we begin to touch lives. We see “touch lives” as cliche. Every pastor says it. But do we really touch lives? Ask yourselves. I also constantly check on my own living too, so yep! It’s a journey we’re all living here.

bear fruits...

Well, that’s all for now. God bless all of you. I may not see some of you before I leave next week. Will miss all of you dearly. It’s CA that made INTEC so much like home.

Love in Christ,
