Reaching Out – the event which IMPACTED lives

“Lets have faith that right makes might; and in that faith let us, to the end, dare to do our duty as we understand it.”

– Abraham Lincoln –

Campus Alive that night was indeed an inspiring one. Here are the insights from some of the attendees of last week’s CA:

Rekindling the Passion for Christ

Good tidings to all! :)

Today was my first time experiencing Campus Alive, despite being constantly hounded by my more enthusiastic classmates ( Shu Yoong and Caryn) to attend. And after feeding them with many different excuses I could possibly think of, I finally decided to give it a try. I did not expect much to be honest, but once I got to the venue, and after I had seen the amount of attendees and the beautiful place, I realized that this was something bigger and much more significant than what I had given it credit for.

The evening’s event started out rather vibrantly, with a clever ice breaking session and lively young souls communing in hymn and praise. But the highlight of the evening was listening to the testimony of an outstanding God-fearing woman. Her honest and compelling testimony was just as inspiring as it was witty. I truly felt His presence in the crowd, as we all looked on as she shared her tale of total obedience, responsibility, and trust in the Lord. I believe we all walked away with a rekindled urge to carry out our noble duty as Christians, at least I did.

All in all, I truly enjoyed myself today. I wish I hadn’t missed the previous CA meetings prior to this. But I guess it’s never to late to realise what God has in store for us. And I’m quite positive that the Lord has more great things in store for this group and its following. Thank you once again to all who made today’s event the meaningful experience it was for me. :)

With Christ at heart, Isaac. :)

Yes Lord, I’m Listening!

Thursday came knocking again and I found myself sitting in a van headed off to….yes, Campus Alive!

It’s amazing how fast time flies in INTEC. So Thursday is always an awesome chance to slow down a bit. I mean, it’s true what people say, you miss out on a lot when you’re rushing all the time. Quote Joash “Take some time to look at the sky”. Or did he say “weather”…?

Well, yes, Thursday, 630pm, sitting around a table eating Chinese food, catching up with various friends from other programmes. Awesome. That’s the word for it. Fellowship and food, you cant have one without the other. I like it, it reminds me of my hometown Kuching, where kopitiam sessions occur on a regular basis.

7.30 pm, we go to the Atmosphere. There were lots of people this CA.

The activity was a talk from a special someone. She shared her story, her testimony on how she came to Christ. It was really interesting and heart warming. God came to her when she was at the lowest point of her life. Imagine that!

I can’t imagine a better way to experience God’s love. I mean, you’ve got to feel loved when someone loves you when you don’t love yourself. Then, she shared how God became real to her and how she learned to trust God and depend on God in making big decisions in life. At the end of it, she challenged us to really walk with God.

I really gained a lot from it. But the two main things were, first, I learned I’ve got to get closer to God and really learn to listen to His voice. Secondly, her talk really motivated me to work hard, I mean, her schedule is packed and crazy, and she believes in working for a God who is constantly working. It really pushed me to think that yes, I’ve got to work harder. Of course breaks are still necessary!

September babies! <3

End of CA, refreshments and back to Cendana! Good night!

Faithful Servant of God

Again another Campus Alive that impacted me! Today an inspiring godly woman shared with us on how God has worked in her life, and how HE can do the same with ours.

“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few”.

These words reminded me that sometimes, we are so comforted with just scoring good grades and attending Christian fellowships, but we forgot that we are all called to do his work. Not by ourselves, but to work together with him. Today I was reminded that He is always walking and working with us. All we need to do is to faithfully do His work with boldness and courage.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, have faith!

Ground Breakers. Mountain Movers.

When everything ended, we were leaving towards the refreshment room. She was there, standing at the door. My friends all stopped to shake hands with her and thanked her for the awesome session. I was next. Her firm handshake and the aura of confidence in her really amazed me. Such a small-sized lady in her early thirties, how could she have gone through so many ups and downs? The answer is simple: God.

It’s not the first time I heard her sharing about her walk of life with God. Previously, she shared about how God has guided her as she joined politics. Tonight, in CA once again, with the theme ‘Reaching Out’, she shared with us how God brought blessings in her life. Simple, straight-forward, and heart-moving. That’s all that I could say about her session with us. And most important of all, I am blessed once again, to be able to learn more about God.

I was really tired that day, having been worrying about presentations and loads of unfinished work. I was confused and I guess I just resorted to avoid thinking about it. Yet, God is with me all the while! Listening to what she had to say, my questions were answered. Expectations. That’s the word. Many times we have high expectations of others, but when that person did not live up to our expectations we end up feeling discouraged. Expectations from others and on our ourselves also make us feel disillusioned. This godly woman went through the same phase, too, and without doubt, her main support is Him, the Lord.

We have expectations of God as well, but we mustn’t forget that He does what He knows is best for us. So a challenge by the speaker: pray and have faith in Him, go through life close to God. For me, it is not a challenge, though, it is a matter of choice. True enough, life without God, in university, at work, is meaningless.

One last thing, from Matthew 9:37-38:

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.”

A close walk with God is not only following Him alone, but also to spread the good news to others. Reaching out, as an act of love to our loved ones, and also to God, the almighty. I hope this testimony  is able to reach out to someone out there. =) And I’m sure glad that I attended CA!!!
