Juniors, Seniors & Super Seniors! Second Half of 2010 begins…

Filed under: CA Pictures,CA Reports,CA Service,CA Updates,Sharing,Testimony — campusalive @ 4:01 pm

First Campus Alive for the juniors! We (the seniors) were looking forward for this day to come. A year ago, it was our first and finally it was time for us to organize the first Campus Alive for our dear juniors…

The participation from our juniors, seniors and fellow batch mates was AWESOME! Managing the transport to Kota Kemuning was not (always) an easy task. Thankfully we have the amazing transport ministry to make sure nobody misses the opportunity to come and celebrate our first CA for this semester. Thank God also as the new highway LKSA (or also known as LAKSA) was officially open and the journey to Kota Kemuning was shorter.

mr super senior :)

As usual, the event started with games to increase the bond between the newcomers, the juniors, seniors as well as SUPER seniors!

It was indeed a very special night. Campus Alive committees performed a short sketch ala-musical. The theme of the sketch was about how a new college student (Harry Kettle, Royston) struggle to fit in into the different cliques in college. However, in the end, he realized that he does not have to pretend to be someone else in Campus Alive. This is because, God loves us equally and unconditionally and here in CA, we accept one another despite our difference, capabilities or even weaknesses. Later on, the praise and worship was led by Abigail and Bryan. It was really touching to hear the voices of more than 160 people who came, sang along and worshiped him. It was a record to have that number of people came to Campus Alive. Our Campus Alive is growing. Praise the Lord!

The sermon “Loving Your Family” was given by Pastor David Yeow. It was a very interesting sermon especially for juniors who have just left their home to further their study. The bubbly Pastor sure knew how to grab the attentions of the students that came that night with his funny and hilarious actions.

sermon time :)

Last but not least, before the refreshment was served, we also celebrated the birthday for July babies. Thanks to ACTS church for helping to prepare some snacks for refreshment. The curry puffs was tastilicious! Finally it was time to say goodbye. It was a really memorable night, not just for the juniors but also for the seniors for organizing the first CA without our beloved seniors.

Now, lets hear what they have to say…

Campus Alive is very fun and exiting! It makes me feel that I’m home with my family. I realized that wherever I go, I will never feel lonely because I have a very big family in Christ. I can make friends with a lot of people and we have a great time together. There are fun activities such as games and sing along. We are truly brothers and sisters in Jesus. The sharing by the pastor was also very touching. Thank you to the seniors who made all this things happened.  The refreshments are very nice too. I’m really looking forward to attend the next Campus Alive gatherings.

Last Thursday, I was given to the opportunity to Co-lead worship in CA. At first, I was quite scared and nervous to co-lead when Abigail told me to do so. But then, I took courage to take this task when I remembered a verse in the bible that says love the Lord with all your heart, and to me, serving God in music is a good way to express my love for Him.

I was actually reminded again last Thursday that serving God is not a burden but instead, a way to please Him. In fact, serving God is also a thing that I can be joyful in. I remembered despite finishing late for practice (and had lots of homework to finish), I found great delight and refreshed in all worries and cares.

praise and worship team

Everyone should involve themselves in serving God (in any ways). Believe me, those who serve will be even closer to God. Serving God should also be something that is from a person’s heart. God will remember what you did for Him, and indeed, will bless you with more blessing. PROVE: Matthew 6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

To start with, INTEC is definitely not what I expected it to be! I knew that it would be a totally new experience for me but it turns out that the short time I have spent here is much more enjoyable than what I had imagined, and it goes beyond the average life of a student. Of course lessons are getting tougher and assignments are piling up but with so many great friends and sporting seniors, the days just fly by! Plus, not only is there arranged transport to church, there are also gatherings and the best of all is CAMPUS ALIVE! I had so much fun! Seriously, u guys rock!!! It was truly an amazing experience and it felt so good to belong in such a wonderful community. Praise the Lord for that! Keep it up, guys! Can’t wait for the next CA! :)

When Steven came and asked me whether I would like to serve God, my first thought was actually, “yeah! ushering!”, as I really like to meet up with new people, make all guests feel like pampered in their homes.

“Can you please write a blog about today’s CA, and can you please send it to me once you have finished, erm, before next week?” and, yup, I accepted the request, without any hesitation, and I really don’t know why I accepted it at the first place. I always believe that God will put me at the right place, at the right time, to serve Him, the one almighty God.

(And sorry for being such a lazy writer. I was busy on parade until I can’t really stay awake every time I tried to open my laptop to continue my blog.)

XD :P and this blog will become one of my testimony for Campus Alive, and just as its name sounds, it’s alive. God Bless.

Game was fun, albeit torturing, as I wasn’t really good at running, but we did have lots of fun together with each other. Little game bonds us together, and we can always learn something even better through games, and I discover that, “smile is always be the best encouragement/gift a person can received.” and laughters filled up the hall as we witnessed the winners’ aesthetic calligraphy of “CA” with their butts. (Dickson, awesome buttwriting. in cursive). LOLZ. ><

Praise and worship has been one of my most favorite part during a fellowship. Voices arose among everyone, either you are a believer, or a non-believer, and we enjoyed every moment singing together. Combining both fantastic concert-like band and diva-ish lead singers like Bryan Goh, praise and worship is a success. God will surely be delighted with the worship we have for him. What He loves more is seeing us stand up united, singing in one voice with melodious notes flying all over the hall without distinction among ourselves. Praise the Lord!

“and God Loves Us, the way you are.” Isn’t that what CA is all about? Everyone is welcome to join CA despite your origins, your background, your race, your religions. We are here, in God’s grace, learning together, and having fun together. Through the funny sketch by all CA committee members, I discover that in CA, nobody will feel lonely. We are here to care for each other. They have sincere smiles on their face. Listen to lots of sharing, chit-chat with friends. X)

Love is always a crucial part in life, but sometime after doing a reality check, we may find it hard to have love nourish in between a relationship, and one of the world hardest relationship to be well taken care of is parents- kids relationship. As scholars who just get themselves a total freedom from their family, we felt homesick; no matter how much we dislike our family, the feeling will still traumatize us. Having their first time to study away from home, most of the juniors, I believe, will find today’s sermon meaningful as they begin to embark a new journey of life without the accompany from their parents.

Pastor Dave Yeoh from Acts Church (yeepee, I love him. I cried in his last sermon given in last year. Do refer back to Campusalive website for more information) gave an excellent sermon on how we should love our parents. In other words, how we show our love to them by replying them politely when things get ugly between parents and kids. COOL! (I really need something like that now. ) It’s true that loving our parents is easy, but showing our love to them is hard for a number of people. After the sermon, I missed them so badly. Daddy, Mommy, are you ok>?

(It shows how wonderful our holy bible is as well: it proves our Holy Bible isn’t as doctrinaire as they thought. XD)

Overall, it’s an awesome experience to know my new juniors, share my experience with my juniors, have a wonderful fellowship with friends from different programs, states, religions, family background.

and sorry to all my juniors whose names have always been forgotten by me. I will try my best to remember all my friends’ names in CA.

Campus Alive is a wonderful melange of  lively campus students who are interested in make a difference in the campus. By having faith in God, we believe we can have a wonderful time with everyone who joins CA. We are a big family, that’s why we smile when we saw you… …

“Home Sweet Home, my church brothers and sisters.”

Well, it’s been two years since I left my school days, I’m pretty sure being a super senior in my primary school (yep, I’m talking about you two, Sharellena and Sandra) and super senior in secondary school was quite uneasy.. I prefer being humble and be friends with them, rather than acting as if you’re clever type of senior and pretended you knew more than them..Hehe

the emo dude...

To tell you all, I wrote this note not because I want to boast about my life, nor being proud of myself being better than the others… It’s about a ‘call’ from God that wants me to tell all of you about my life… I felt there is a presence of Him kept telling me to write this note to all of you, I felt God wants me to do this because He cares all of us, and He shows His love towards us. Being alone in the dark, sad is not the choice that God wants us to do, instead being satisfied with your life, happy and have faith is all what it takes to be the sons of God, the Christians and even the non-believers because He believe someday, all of us will step in front and committing our life towards Him, be there with Him forever and always..Amen…

Here, I would like to tell all of you about my life after adolescence era, because I’m scared when I turned 20 years old next year, I wouldn’t be able to remember all of this and God must be quite upset not telling you all…hehe well, where should i start? I’ve grown up, have a life, eat what I like and sleep whenever I want…=) i swear if i’m telling you this, i would have lied, because all things gets tougher and tougher sometimes and u may not discovered when that moment comes to you that may bring you down.

I discovered myself being in that situation number of times… Being stress easily lower down your confidence and that’s the moment when you realized you’re down and felt the melancholy melody after all the problems you’ve faced through. There’s one time where I found myself being foolish for what I’ve done, and I regret for not being the best of the best as I promised… seriously i let my tears out for all the problems i’ve created in studies, relationship with family, relationship with friends and relationship with my love one, i put all the burden on my shoulder for that moment because i know i made a mistake i shouldn’t have done in the first place.

I made people annoyed sometimes, and the most painful of all, I made my love ones disappointed. At that time, I felt as if I want to punish myself for what I did, every time I slept I felt sad and I realized I’ve lost my way. My mind start playing with tricks on me, telling me to just gave up and keep disappointing until the end. I felt if I’m given another chance, I would turn back the time and fix all the problems I’ve created. I will say ‘I’m sorry’ not caring how many times I would say up that word as long as the ones I’m hurting accept my apology. That’s when I felt down not knowing what to do.

All of a sudden, I realized that when I lost the way, I lost the way that connects me towards the only one that cares about me, that always be there to support me, always be there to make me happy and always be there to lay His precious hand to support the burden I’ve always carry. So at that moment I closed my eyes and I prayed:

“Dear heavenly father Lord, I would like to thank You for so many times, that You never let me sad, You never left me when I’m down and You never let me lost the way to You as long as I kept You inside my heart. I would like to committed myself to You and I realized for all the problems I faced, it’s all about Your plans and Your obstacles that made me strong. I believe I would be fine under your guidance Father Lord and I pray and I hope that You would soften the hearts of all the people around me to accept my apology and for the truth, I love the ones I hurt and I promise not to made all of you disappointed under Lord’s guidance..Amen…”

Once I finished the last sentence of the prayer, I’ve setting up my plans and my promises to all of those who felt hurt for what I’ve done to them, and under Lord’s guidance I would never do anything that can make all of my love ones disappointed. Deep in my heart I’m sorry and I promise I will be better and better for the days to come. That’s my promise and my life holds with it until the end…

Senior-Junior Meet n’ Greet

Filed under: CA Updates — campusalive @ 10:15 pm

Tomorrow marks the beginning of a new semester of Campus Alive meetings! No, it’s not going to be the first official meeting at the good ole’ Atmosphere of New Life Restoration Centre, rather it’s a very casual ‘Meet n’ Greet’ between seniors and juniors.

It’s probably a little late to be ‘promoting’ this gathering, but at any rate, here are the details:

Time: 6.45pm (Akasia), 7.00pm (Cendana)

Venue: Akasia bus stop, Cendana guardhouse

For girls, bring your eating utensils! Bowls, plates, forks, spoons, chopsticks…Anything you are comfortable eating with (although chopsticks can probably be out of the picture). And don’t forget to bring your own cup, as we’ll be serving some special drinks as well.

For the guys, well, “bring yourselves,” is suffice for me to say. =D

It’s going to be a blessed time of fellowship, food, fun, food, getting-to-know-yous, food and well…food!

And so, my dearests, I shall see you tomorrow, no?

I get the feeling that this post shall only be viewed after the gathering tomorrow though. But as they always say, “better than late then never”.

Sweet blessings =)

Think Less, Pray More…

Filed under: CA Pictures,CA Reports,CA Service,CA Updates,Please Note,Sharing,Testimony — campusalive @ 1:14 pm

11 March CA 2010 is one of the most exciting CAs so far this year for me. Firstly because the speaker, Bro. Calvin Tay is from my church (Harvest Generation Church Subang) and secondly is because so many AUSMATians came for CA this week which is a totally rare thing! Maybe it was because we just finished our biology test on Wednesday night and the coming week will be our mid-semester break. There were so many AUSMAT newcomers and overall there were slightly more than ten newcomers which is quite a big number! And almost all of them are non-believers, really praise God for that! => We really pray that seeds have been sown and one day these people will know how blessed is it to know our great and awesome God!

As usual CA started with icebreaker, then praise and worship, then sermon, then fellowshipping while enjoying refreshments. Icebreaker was led by Bobby (unsure of spelling). The game tested on our faith. I did not play the game and I was watching them play at the back. It was so funny to see their reactions when they found out that the thumbtacks were actually not on the floor and they worried for nothing. The game master then explained the meaning behind the game. Many times we lose faith towards God, we are always distracted by what the world says and forget to go back to God. Every time when there is a problem we forgot to bring our request to God and trust in Him that He will pull us through. We prefer to consult the people around us and not follow what God says. And then we worry and worry so much not knowing that God has actually taken care of these problems. So even through games we all learnt something that day.

the blinds

the 'eyes'

After that we proceeded to praise and worship led by Abigail and the team. Then, Calvin Tay spoke on ‘Loving God with Our Minds’ in accordance to the CA theme this year to love God and then love our neighbours. There are two things that caught my attention. Firstly is ‘think less and pray more’ and secondly is ‘as a man thinks, so is he’. ‘Think less and pray more’ really speaks about me sometimes. Many times when I’m face with a difficulty or just about any problem, I tend to worry and worry and worry. I will think of so many ‘what ifs’ and then I’ll complain to my friends but very seldom I’ll talk to God first. This shouldn’t be the way as our God is the one that has everything under His control, not our friends, not our parents, not even ourselves. So let’s all learn to ‘think less and pray more’! ‘As a man thinks, so is he’ also speaks of the mind, what we input into our minds will determine what will be the output. As Christians, we should input good, positive and godly things into our minds. We should think of good things like think of what we want our future to be in say 2 years time, think and pray about what is God’s purpose for me in this life instead of constantly filling our minds with things of the world e.g. TV series, money, porn?, good-looking guys, etc.  It is not that these things are bad but if we don’t have a balance then it won’t be good for us. BUT porn is definitely a no-no!

After the sermon ended, Bro. Nick Chan, also from Harvest Generation Church shared with us a short testimony. He was one of those faithful servants of God that started CA some 7 years ago with a few other friends. He was an AUSMAT senior from AUSMAT 14!! (This June/July we will see the coming of AUSMAT 22 juniors!). He shared with us some history of CA as well as encouraging us to keep doing what we do because he said that through CA seeds have been sown and that some people have accepted Christ later while studying overseas! After that we had some refreshments as well as fellowshipping with each other. The team from Harvest Generation stayed back to fellowship with some of us. Then, slowly we all left for our respective hostels and we all made it on time as CA ended really early that day.

It was a hectic week, I’ll admit that. But I was looking forward to CA. It meant a break from assignments and also that the holidays were approaching rapidly.

The night started off with the welcoming of the newcomers. Abigail, Sarah and I pulled off a quaint little so-called performance to welcome all those present in CA for the very first time. It was a joy and delight to have so many newcomers that night. Straight after that, announcements were given and the time was passed to Bobby, the game master of the night. He introduced a game, which got half of the people screaming their lungs out at another half of the people who were blindfolded and absolutely clueless of what was going on. They were to give directions as to avoid the blindfolded from getting into harm’s way (Bobby had put thumb tacks on the ground). In the end, after all was over, we were informed that the tacks had been taken away already. So in the same way, when we know there are troubles and obstacles ahead in life, we need to listen carefully to the voice of One and obey Him. =)

imagine a world with no light...(or blinded with rubbish bag?) you can only depend on Him to guide worries people!

worship team

The praise and worship session led by Abigail followed the game and we were led into a time of worship. After which, our speaker for the night – Calvin Tay delivered a message, sharing with us the meaning of ‘loving God with our mind’. He gave us three points on how we can love God with all our minds:

  1. Think less, pray more
  2. Stop thinking that we know everything
  3. Start thinking with God’s purpose in mind

bro Calvin Tay

I learnt that it’s important to keep our minds pure and to set it on righteousness because our actions portray what is in our minds. And also, with so much to do and so little time, we tend to forget that God is in control and start pulling our hair and losing our cool. It’s important, in fact, not to worry so much and just pray more, talk to God more. That was a very good reminder for me to just be still and know that He is God.

After the message, Nick Chan, who was one of the students who first started CA, shared a little about himself and encouraged all of us to remain strong in our faith and to keep on spreading God’s love through CA. Following that, we celebrated the birthdays of those born in March and with that, CA was adjourned over light-hearted chatter and some refreshments (prepared by Ivy and Carmen =)).

Blessed holidays,

Jan =)

Set Your Mind on LOVE

Set your mind...

Loving with Your Mind

We often forget the reasons why we are here today—this life, this very moment. We tend to chase after something that is temporary, earthly pleasures and instant happiness. However, there is more beyond all these.

It is vital to love with our mind, to interpret and to know the reason to love and to be loved. He loved us so much that He sent His only Son to save us all.

There is no time to hesitate! Come and celebrate His LOVE, MERCY and GRACE! Join us in Campus Alive this week…! Same time, same place…  This is not just a fellowship; it is a FAMILY in Christ…

Colossians 3:2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on earth.

Loving with All Our Soul…just as He has LOVED us

Filed under: CA Pictures,CA Reports,CA Service,CA Updates,Please Note,Testimony — campusalive @ 10:14 am

...exchanging-stories time ^_^...

Yeah…another gathering with our beloved family in Christ!

It was pretty rush-y that evening because ALM juniors had Chemistry test and the Ausmatians finished class at 6 p.m. His heavenly blessing was the reason everything went so smoothly on that night.

As the tradition of Campus Alive, the Core team and everybody that served on that night had a group prayer led by Cedric. The fellowship kick-started by a warm welcome from the emcees—Ming Kai and Grace—and opening prayer. Then it was time for game. The game masters were Daniel and Vincent (super seniors ^_^). We were divided into four groups. The leader from each group was asked to order the members to follow what they did—which was joining anything that they had or can find to make the longest bridge. In the end, everybody was a winner since each one of us was ‘awarded’ with chocolates from Germany!

"time to re-dress!"

After that, our (way) super, super, duper senior—that’s how Steffie described him—, Zhang Zhi shared his testimony on the journey he had to go through while studying in Germany. He had just completed his degree and going to take Master soon (wow!).

(Super, super, duper senior) Zhang Zhi sharing his testimony about the journey climbing up the ladder of success

The sermon from Pastor Mike Ngui was awesome! It was about how to love God with all our soul, how to love others just as God has loved us and on top of all, to love ourselves for who we really are. We do not have to put on a mask, just be yourselves (^_^). Let’s hear what my fellow friends said about what they have learned from the night of Loving with All Our Soul

Indeed the last CA was yet another blast for me. Though the attendance was fewer than expected, I was really encouraged to see people devoting that Thursday night for Campus Alive despite their hectic schedule in school. It felt good to see the ALG super super seniors back, as well as some super seniors from IMU. To me, it really is a blessing for us to have these seniors, uncle and aunties, and pastor Mike Ngui to be in CA to minister to us, both directly and indirectly.

Pastor Mike Ngui ^_^

When pastor started off by saying that it is simple to just say ‘I love you with my… everything lah’. I totally agreed with him and thought that it is easy to love a person, or to be loved by someone. As he continues his sermon, one particular phrase that caught my attention the most is ‘Do you really, really love me? Do you really, genuinely, and authentically love me? Or do you love my mask? (with his left hand moved across his face)’.  Immediately the thing that came through my mind is – have we been living a life which we are being our true self? Or have we been putting on a mask, so that we can please others, or so that others can please us more?

It is time to remove that mask. Jesus said ‘love me with all your soul’. It is time for us to really, genuinely, and authentically love Him and his people, not because it is the right thing to do, not because our masks requires us to do so, nor is it because by doing so, it will complement our masks,  but because it what the ‘true us’ really want to do.

“and thou shall love Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart;”
Deuteronomy 6:5-6

The recent Campus Alive gathering wouldn’t be great without all of our brothers and sisters that came with their faith to be there and lay their hands upon receiving the blessing they deserve. With that, I praised the Lord for this recent Campus alive as it was a remarkable and enjoyful night to have!

The main focus for every single CA meeting is that there will be guests and speakers that been invited and served to God, to come and gave us a brief of Christianity stories, Love, power and faith that we always have towards our Lord Jesus. In this CA meeting, we welcomed one of our seniors from German that had just finished his degree and he came just to share with us his testimony of his life, where he encountered lots of barriers and difficulties that can cause his carrier to be vanquished. His testimony makes me felt energetic once again and at the same time, to keep have faith to ourselves that we can just do it no matter what obstacles we faced, yet of course we need to always have faith towards our Lord Jesus because He can soften our heart when we’re down, and He’s the one who can answer our prayers for everything that involves tough decisions. From that testimony we heard also, we’ve learn to always pray for our studies and keep remain faithful to God wherever we are!

Our Seniors & Super, Super, Duper Seniors! Wonderful People... ^_^

Our speaker on that CA meeting had given a talk to us about faith, love and soul. Here, we learn that to have faith, we need strength, we need confidence especially our soul to worship God and we must know that for every reason, there will be answers and for every love that we had, there will always happiness and sadness among us. Although we have love towards our friends, our husband/wife, our fiancée even to life, there is always one Love that we can’t cherish just by saying it. It is the love towards our God and religion. surely this time around I learned a lot about love, and be faithful to our God with our soul by just hearing what the pastor had given us. Thank You!

The CA meeting ended when we sang a worship song, Amazed. Yes, its true that Lord, I’m amazed by you and every blessing you pour out, I turn back to praise… Blessed be your glorious name! Amen!

Worship Team, Led by Jan

There’s nothing as wonderful as meeting our brothers and sisters in Christ! CA is where we get to be revived in the Lord together. This week’s CA has been a blessing for me, as always. The worship and the teaching and not to forget the fellowship we have is just wonderful. It’s just great to see how we have the chance to celebrate God’s love! I believe God has a plan for us together. Let’s continue in loving and serving Him! Hots for Jesus…

♣sister Abigail♣

My mouth fell open and consternation filled my soul as Abigail and Ivy told me what an emcee’s job was. “It’s the master of ceremony, “ Abigail said as I stood rooted to the ground, not knowing what to do and say. When both of them came and asked me whether I could be the emcee for the CA this week, somehow because of my poor English I had misunderstood and I thought that they were asking me to be the usher for the night. So without much hesitation, I agreed. I wanted to turn down the offer later as I was never a good speaker. The last time I spoke on stage was in a story-telling competition when I was seven, which I failed miserably. However, I knew that there must be reasons why God had let me accept this task and that He would only give us tasks that we could handle.

Ms & Mr Emcees

To be frank, I had always envied those emcees in CA who could speak fluently and calmly on stage and I prayed to God that some day I would have the courage and be given the chance to be one, but I never thought that my prayers would be answered so quickly. “No, not this week. I have my English presentation and Chemistry test at the same day and I would never be able to pull all these through, “I quipped to myself but I was immediately reminded that with God, all things are possible. Many times in a day I had the thought to chicken out but had decided against it, and I was glad I didn’t.

Rachel sent me the flow of the event and later I met up with Grace (another emcee for the night) to discuss about the details. She was so fun to work with. I prayed hard and several times a day and I doubted God had listened to my prayers as I was still very nervous. That night when I got off the stage, Abigail told me that it was much better than my English presentation that morning, and phew—relief. When the song “Amazed” was performed by the worship team led by Jan, it suddenly dawned on me that God always listened whenever we prayed.

“You dance over me

While I am unaware

You sing all around

But I never hear the sound”

I was really touched by the love of God and I hated myself for even doubting the presence of God with me. He was there with me all along and I myself did not realize it. I thought I couldn’t make it through tonight but He proved me wrong. I had learnt so much from Him on that night. He had His plans for every one of us and sometimes, He might work in ways that we could not fully understand, but He would always be faithful and be there for us to guide us through all the challenges and obstacles in our lives.

The sermon later by Ps. Mike Ngui was wonderful as he said that we should love our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. He really had a sense of humour and everyone burst into bouts of laughter every now and then. A special thank to Ghai Xiong and Jonathan for the great refreshments after the CA.

“The Lord my God commanded me to be strong and courageous. I will not be terrified; not be discouraged, for the Lord my God will be with me wherever I go.”

Joshua 1:9

♣brother MING KAI♣

The last Campus Alive, themed “Loving God with All Your Soul” was another awesome gathering. I could really see God’s hand in this CA as in every CA. Even more inspiring, was when I saw people who were committed and willing to come on a Thursday night despite how tired they were.

That night, our invited guest, Pastor Mike gave a fantastic sermon on loving God with all our souls. After his message, I began to ponder on many things. I realized that in everything that we have achieved, we can see God’s love for us; and in everything that we possess, we can see God’s blessings for us. Sometimes, however, we do not give enough credit and gratitude to God.

In Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” There are no conditions placed on God’s love for us. He created us to have a loving relationship with Him, and He sacrificed His own Son (who also willingly died for us) to restore that relationship. Indeed, we can see how great our God is. Thus, it is time to truly love God with all our souls, shine for God and show others how much God has loved us.

As for those who served in the last CA, you guys were brilliant. The emcees, Grace and Ming Khai did a superb job even though they were both nervous wrecks before CA (:P). The games were marvelously carried out by the ALG seniors – thanks to them we all had chocolates! The worship was beautifully led by Jan and the rest of the music team. PA system was splendid. Ushers were fab. Refreshments were great. And also, thank you, Zhang Zhi for your wonderful testimony that encouraged us all to stay faithful to God.

Woship Team!

Most importantly, a big THANK YOU to you, Jesus for touching all our lives! :)

Loving with All Your Soul…

Filed under: CA Updates — campusalive @ 10:49 pm

It’s the month of love! We love because God first loved us. If we say we love God, but hate others, we are liars. For we cannot love God, whom we have not seen, if we do not love others, whom we have seen. The command that Christ has given us is this: whoever loves God must love others also. (1 John 19-21)

It is not easy to love others with all our soul but the grace and the sacred love of the Heavenly Father is always with us. Therefore, we have to open our heart and our soul to accept others for who they are because God’s love is unconditional…

Come along and celebrate the season of love! See you at the same time and at the same place. Together we learn how to love just like how He first loved us…because His LOVE is FREE, FABULOUS and CONTAGIOUS!!!

Loving in Obedience, Making a difference…

Filed under: CA Pictures,CA Reports,CA Service,CA Updates,Please Note,Testimony — campusalive @ 1:29 am

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this; love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these…

January 14, once again we gathered as one under the blessings of the Lord to welcome the great year of LOVE as the new theme for this year is, ‘Loving in obedience, Making a difference’. There were a lot of new faces among the old ones. The atmosphere was filled with happiness and the warm feeling of being ‘home’. Apart from the friendly laughter and joyful smiles; there were also obstacles, tests and miracles… Let’s hear what they have to say…

'i-need-the-toilet game'! hahaha! just kidding... it was a 'grouping' game conducted by Eileen!

Hi, my brothers and sisters in Christ!! Peace is with all of you. The CA on 14th of January 2010 was totally great! The worship team was truly awesome and the sermon was very interesting too. Caroline had asked me to write a testimony about CA and here I am to share a miracle which had happened to our refreshments team that night as we felt really blessed and ought to share this story to all of you. =)

As we all know, Elfira and Michele were chosen to prepare refreshments for that night. They bought fruits (two watermelons and two honeydews) and a bottle of syrup for the refreshment. On the way to CA, all of us wondered if the fruits were enough for everybody. Some of them said that they would not be enough as the watermelons and the honeydews were small. As soon as we arrived there, seven of us (four, offered to help) quickly started to cut the fruits. Suddenly, Grace told me that the fruits were not enough for everybody (by that time, we have not yet finish cutting the fruits) and we started to feel worried because everyone had the same thought too.

Then, when  I told them about the story which Christ had multiplied five loaves of bread and two fish to feed five thousands people in Bethsaida (Luke 9:10) and about twelve baskets of leftover, we started to pray so that the same miracle will happened to us too. And so it was!! After we finished cutting all the fruits, we managed to prepare ten plates of them!! The result was really unbelievable as we thought we could manage to prepare about six plates only. We were really amazed by the God’s works and we praised God for helping us that night. The fruits were perfectly enough for everybody and thank God for the miracles. I would like to thank Elfira and Michelle for preparing the refreshments and I appreciated the helps from my friends who were willing to help–Cindy, Grace, Connie and Ellisa–us that night. It was so enjoyable and hope so too to the CA comers. Hope you guys really enjoyed the last CA and decide to come again for the next CA…
P/S: Calling to all Christians to pray for Philip’s recovery. May God hears our prayers and heals Philip.
Thank you and God bless.

the still standing winners...!

I remember going to the last Campus Alive meeting of 2009. Actually, that was the first time I attended CA. I thought it was going to take a long time before CA starts again for the year 2010. But in a blink of an eye, 14th of January 2010 (the first CA meeting for this year) has already come and passed by!

What an interesting message Pastor David Tham gave us. It was about the greatest commandment. Jesus said “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with your entire mind”. This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself”.  What I like about CA is that we not only worship God but we fellowship with one another. Those two are equally important to make life meaningful and of course, to obey God’s law.

I would like to encourage each and every one of you to come for CA and use your specific abilities and talents to worship and to serve Him in your own way. =)

Being already a Christian, I realized that, as I grew older (and somehow more matured); I needed to find more ways to hold my conviction for Christ, our Lord. Then, one day, a friend sent me a sms saying, “Hey, join Campus Alive. It’s a good way to discover Jesus.” And so, the continuation in my spiritual began….. As the new year kicks in, I hope the theme of LOVE will share with others what God has given unto us….

Hi, my name is Rohan and I’m currently studying in INTEC, doing my American Degree Foundation Program (ADFP) . I am of Gujerati descent. Although my dad is of Christian faith, I have never been properly exposed to the religion. All that changed when I joined CA. I wasn’t sure what to expect on my 1st day, but the warmth and kindness of the servants of God made it easy for me to fit in. Although I have not formally accepted Jesus as my savior, I still make it a point to attend CA regularly. CA has truly been an eye-opening, thought-provoking and mind-boggling experience for me. I am blessed to have been given the opportunity to participate in the CA, I hope that more people will realize the power of worship and attend CA meetings more regularly.

Pastor David; the Greatest Commandment

It had been a long week of preparation just for that one night, for the very first Campus Alive gathering for the year 2010. Planning and preparation is no joke. And I was thinking to myself, “I’m going to do this for one year. Lord, give me strength.”

Finally on the night of 14th of January 2010, we stepped into the New Year together as a family: The family of Campus Alive. As transport started, more and more people began gathering at the rendezvous point. It was certainly a wonderful sight, but at the same time, a scenario which tingles the panic nerves of some. But then again, we did not need to fear, for God was and is in charge. In fact, transport turned out to be really smooth and punctual. =)

CA started. We had awesome emcees and kicked off the night with simple yet fun games from Eileen. All this time, the LCD projector was simply not working. Our LCD dude, Bryan, had been trying to fix it since he came, and somehow he just could not get it to do what it does: project. As we decided to proceed with worship, God showed once again that He was still in charge. The moment the worship stepped on stage, the LCD screen blinked to life. How about that for a New Year blessing?

Following worship, Pastor David gave us an overview of the theme for the year based on Mark 12:30. We do not merely love God by saying so. Rather, we do it with all our hearts, minds, souls and strength. And that is basically our whole being. And with that, we love our neighbors because God has commanded us to do so.

It’s amazing how God has shown us that the year 2010 is going to be a year of Love. It’s amazing how He shows His love to us in so many ways, most of all, through Jesus Christ His Son. And guess what? God has given CA a vision for the year 2010: Loving in obedience, making a difference. =)

A great start for a great year. Thank you, Jesus!

Still amazed by His love,

Jan =)

For those who want the proper sized picture, you can get it here.

Hey people! This week’s CA is gonna be awesome! Though we had one CA last week on Friday, do remember that we still have one this week! And it’s Thursday again. Hee.

We do encourage you to come as we believe that this week’s CA is going to just be an awesome time of being in God’s presence and allowing Him to reach deep inside our heart to heal all our wounds, even the ones we’ve suppressed for so long that we forgot about it.

It’s going to be a fantastic time of worshiping Him so I encourage you to bring all your friends along! :)
